A North Dakota call center, Novo 1, says a regional worker shortage is forcing it to close its doors, according to a story in the Bismarck Tribune.

30 people are being laid off on May 1.

“Our inability to hire enough people is what drove the decision,” Justin Hall, manager of Novo 1 said in an interview with the Bismarck Tribune. “The labor market is expected to grow even tighter. This has nothing to do with the performance of the center.”

“It appeared a challenge to us to hire staff,” Hall continued. “With the oil market and the Super Wal-Mart center coming, we anticipated that the labor market was going to be even more of a challenge.”
