Against all reasonable odds, the Conference Board reported Tuesday that U.S. consumer confidence in April reached a 4-year high, according to MarketWatch.


Analysts and economists had expected soaring gasoline prices to bring down consumer confidence. Instead, the reading increased 2.1 points to 109.6 in April, up from March?s revised 107.5 level.
