U.S. consumer sentiment improved again in early December, but remained below levels seen in the early summer before gasoline prices moved higher.


The University of Michigan’s preliminary consumer sentiment index rose to 88.7 in December from 81.6 in November, according to published reports Friday of the proprietary research. It’s the highest since August’s 89.1.
