The Federal Reserve may be getting the soft landing it wants.


The economic data to be released in the coming week should support the notion that both growth and inflation in the U.S. economy are moderating, economists said.


The December data on inflation, output and home building should, on balance, solidify the consensus of slower growth in the fourth quarter, with muted inflation, said Nigel Gault, chief U.S. economist at Global Insight.
